PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to manage and oversee all aspects of taxes for Sport Maska inc, CCM Hockey U.S., Inc., including the SR&ED tax claims to support the other departments in their business operations as regards to tax compliance and ensure that tax risks are minimized, and tax opportunities are maximized. The person will also manage the Insurance files for CCM globally and coordinate tax and accounting aspects of foreign subsidiaries (ex. Taiwan Branch).

 

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

  • Prepare Federal and Provincial corporate income tax returns, commodity and non-resident tax reports to ensure complete and timely compliance;

  • Address all tax aspects of year-end financial statements presentation, including determination of the tax provision and effective tax rate, tax rate reconciliations, subsidiary tax provision calculations, deferred taxes analysis and presentation of the tax provision and footnote disclosures with respect to CCM Hockey consolidated financial statements;

  • Assist in development and implementation of globally effective tax planning initiatives (transfer pricing strategies, dividend repatriation, etc..) for CCM Hockey and its subsidiaries;

  • Manage the SR&ED Tax claims.  Working closely with the product developers and consultant to ensure accurate and timely compliance and to maximize claims;

  • Assist in development and strategic responses to information request from CRA and foreign tax authorities;

  • Works with insurance brokers to ensure policies are in place and reporting is updated as required;

  • Promote and create a safe and healthy work environment and align activities with company vision and values.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • CPA-CA or other accounting designation and has completed the CPA in-depth tax course;

  • At least 5 years of experience in corporate tax research and consulting;

  • Strong technical tax background;

  • Excellent communication, analytical and leadership skills;

  • Excellent problem solving, organization and planning;

  • Excellent decision-making skills;

  • Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills;

  • Highly self-motivated and work under a minimum of supervision;

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment;

  • Ability to manage complex situations and influence;

  • Bilingual (French and English).
