PURPOSE

Reporting to the Skates Business Unit Director, the Product Manager’s (PM) purpose is to lead the company’s charge to win in the skates category. The organization needs a high performer dedicated to managing all aspects of the CCM skate strategy (product configuration, briefs, portfolio offering, pricing, presentation, marketing assets and financial). It is a key role within the business unit’s triad structure (design, development & product management). Through consumer knowledge, research and market feedback, the PM is directly impacting the project development of the future skates and guide the product designers’ and developers’ efforts in innovation by putting the consumer needs at the forefront.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • In-Market Category Expert: Build a strong understanding of regional markets, strong retail network with a point-of-view of dynamics that create success. Lead individual insights gathering and coordinate the marketing department’s research focus areas. Be the central database for competitive intelligence. Use his influence and insight to orient projects in the right direction.
  • Creation of global product line & marketing briefs: Guide designers and developers in the creation of skates products by identifying consumer and dealer needs across different segments. Work closely with the Brand Marketing Manager and guide them on areas to focus their communications to maximize impact and the creation of the best product story.
  • Lead product presentations and product knowledge content: Lead the content creation and share information in compelling format, tailored for different audiences (Senior Leadership Team, internal sales team, retail buyers/owners, floor staff, customer service)
  • Margin optimization: Head the pricing and product mix strategies, navigate cost structures to optimize value for CCM, customers and consumers.
  • Financial forecasts & scenarios: Analyze, identify and present different product line scenarios which capitalize on opportunities and maximize return for CCM’s business plan.
  • SKU analysis: Constantly review the Global SKU offering evaluate trends and opportunities of expansion or reduction.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or related field; MBA or Master’s Degree is an asset.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in the retail industry is an asset.
  • Ability to synthesize market and customer feedback.
  • Analytical and quantitative skills; experience using hard data to back up assumptions and develop business cases.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong writing skills and excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to influence and lead stakeholders.
  • Experience working with diverse groups of people to manage and inspire change.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) – oral and written.
